//Removed foto, as the test was successful
uploading foto... Left setting.

now there is only blah blah etc to be written. so why not write the very famous line that contains each alphabate? It is used to test fonts...

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.

Did u think I typed all these lines...?? Nah, u are wrong. Just type'=rand(1,10)' in MS Word and ENTER. u get all above stuff automatically..

My coins' wish list...

Strategically, I got the Lokmanya Tilak coin and the new one with wave like structure which I had mentioned in earlier post. Strategically I say because, its actually strategy. I have a tea vendor near my office that I have confided in. We share coins whenever we get duplicates. And obviously he is the one getting most coins in duplicate.

Today there is news of release of a new Rs.5/- coin in circulation... It’s about 150 years of 1987 war. It sports images of Tatya Tope, Laxmi bai and Bahadurshah Jafar. Man, this is in my wish list now. The others in wish list are

  • Mahatma Basaveshwara
  • Jagath Guru Sree Narayana Gurudev
  • Golden Jubilee Celebration of Khadi And Village Industries Commission (This sports image of Gandhi and charkha)
  • 75 Year of Dandi March (This sports image of Dandi March. Visit Mumbai Mint site. It has picture of coin.) ( I got this coin in mid Octomber 2008. And I remember of another coin, a 50 paise coin with Gandhi's face on it... I had that coin but now seem to have lost it :( )
  • The Air Force coin
  • Maharana Pratap
  • Veer Durgadas
  • ONGC (this comes from Kolkata mint)
  • K. Kamraj
Most of these coins come only in Rs.5/-. If there are one rupee as well, they are welcome too.

Tme to celebrate 100 coins

There are over hundred coins in my collection of Indian coins. today I took a stock of what I have, and to my surprise I listed just over one hundred of the coins. Amazing... Of course, not all of these are currently in circulation, but majority are. And just between you and me, some people don’t accept few coins, though the exchequer says they are valid currency…
I sorted the coins by denomination and shot a photo. They are arranged from smallest face value to largest face value and last row is of the coins from the time when we were ruled by the Queen. These coins are no more in use. The photo is uploaded at (http://mulays.atwiki.com/file/open/30/myIndianCoins.JPG). Note: Row for 50 paisa is below one rupee, that’s mistake. Hope to change foto when there are significant number of coins to collection and in that image there would be improvements.
There are 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 25 and 50 paisa and 1, 2 and 5 Rupees. 1 and 2 rupees have most number of coins. The reason may be that when exchequer lately issues special/commemorative coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 50 and 100 Rupees (http://mumbaimint.org/), out of which Re.1/- is the easiest to get.
In my childhood I thought that whenever a commemorative coin is issued, it is issued in all denominations. Those were the days when I used to think that all the denominations are forever... they were, they are and they will be... But now I understand how value of money decreases and how value of coin's metal is related to coin's face value and why some coins are to be taken out of circulation… (and how people expel it on their own, just as 25 paisa coin are hardly accepted in my city now).
The Bombay mint site now shows that the commemorative coins are only issued in some denominations. So I left looking for one occasion’s coin in all denominations... and I know that 1, 2 and 5 are the coins that are most probably to find the new releases in.
I m currently looking for 5 rupee coin (Ferritic Stainless Steel variety ), Lokmanya Tilak ( I guess the normal Cupro Nickel variety it is) and a 75 years ( or is it 175? how many years since they invented an airplane?) of Indian Air force coin ( I guess it is in 1 and 2 Rupees denomination only ). Let’s see what all I can get. And I don't have coin in memory of Rana Pratap's... that is a one I would like to have in my collection.
Whether or not I get them, or whenever I get them, its good to look for coins. For me, some of the coins in my collection have interesting stories behind them.. Some are short stories and some are only incidences. But each one reminds me of something... and it takes me back to my good-old-childhood days.... (old and childhood???!!!)

Here I go...

u know what, i have always wondered what ppl must be writing on the blogs. How can you just type in something that comes to ur mind, and then the entire junta out there in the world reads it... why shud i allow ppl to peep in to my mind? and if there is something that is already existing on the net, is there any point in me writing the same thing again? and then there are so many talks about copy rights and intellectual property rights... who knows when u happen voilet one... so why not just keep away from it?
but then, lately i saw a couple of blogs here and there ( there are other than google sites who provide blogging, i know) and thought that i can definitely put something intersting there. it may not interst you, but it will definitely interst me to read later... :) Why not use it as knowledge repository for myself, or even a scratch pad, a notebook? here they provide a facility to keep the entire blog as private. I can even use it as my personal diary. ( diaries dont charge on per MB or per minute basis.... Here i pay Reliance Communication). But then, dude, why not type entire blog in a real notepad that comes with your operating system, and then just ctrl-c and ctrl-v... all done in five minutes... hardly any charge u paid and everything is posted. And who wants to post fotos here? I dont look fotogenic. and ppl have alrady put so many fotos on net, i wud better spend time seeing them, rather than posting my own...
So, thats why I say, 'here i go...'. Lets see if i can continue to write everyday.. or let me not be that specific. let me say, i will try to write regularly... it can be once in two years or only on 29th Februarys... what say... leap years are pretty regular... only once in hundred years they skip the turn..
so, c u then...
