One wall, great advantages...

My well-to-do software company has one of its establishments in this big city of Maharashtra. We are located at foot of a hill, which makes it to be part of catchment area. First couple of years of the establishment saw near-flood situations on the campus. At times it was even impossible to cross the flow and reach food court... Yes, we have food courts, not just canteens... we have two of them, two independent separate buildings and more coming up. And when we need two food courts, it follows that we have enough buildings to house all those who lunch in those courts.
Why I am concentrating on the food courts today is, the topic is related to water... We had a water shortage today on our campus. (Though its a catchment area, its month of May, and there is no water flowing from the hill.) We were served food in paper dishes as there was no water to wash regular dishes. :( But thankfully there was no shortage of water for drinking. They made adequate arrangements for drinking water since yesterday night.
Actually, think about task of managing water supply to thousands of employees... It must be amazing... Keep in touch with packaged water suppliers., , have all the quotations ready, select the most 'profitable' supplier, estimate the water required and then manage the logistics involved in distributing water to all the buildings on need basis... Very interesting. And you know, lately water shortage is frequent than ever...
So today when there was a water shortage on campus ( and work shortage for me), I though of probable reasons for frequent water cuts. Our Municipal corporation is culprit to some extent, but not that much... So the immediate reasoning that came to my mind was the company must not have paid the water bill for last few months and the Corporation cut the water supply... See, it is only logical. Due to rising rupee and depressing US market, we were to have lesser profits. Market predictions were against us and so share prices fell. To bring the spirit back, we needed a strong balance sheet. One way was to cut short on the expenses' column. We must not have paid water bill. Why only water, there can be Electricity bill too!!! But then why there was not power cut? There might well have been... But boy, we have so large power generators that the entire establishment can be supplied power for five consecutive days when the Electricity Board would supply not a single watt of power. So, there must be a power cut, but we simply could not sense it!!!
I thought of a brilliant solution to the water problem... We have a hill on two edges of campus. Why not build a great wall? It will act as a dam for us in monsoon. We anyway need a great wall on that front.. Think of the worse... Suppose one day the enemy conquers the hill... then?? Our entire campus would be in his range of attack. And with majority of the buildings made of glass, mere stones would prove lethal weapons... No no, we must build a big tall wall as our compound wall. In monsoon, all the water that is anyway wasted after causing trouble to all of us, could be caught there and we would have a large reservoir of water. The big shots can have press conferences detailing proudly how eco-friendly we are, how great is the initiative by an Indian software firm and blah blah. We would have guaranteed free water supply for entire monsoon and a few months after that. And we wont have to pay those dreadful water bills. We use recycled water for all the lush greenery that can be seen on the campus, we will use dam water for general usage and then for drinking water we have those quotation all-ready. And not to forget the shielding from enemies weapons (There is no scarcity of stones on the hill..) Such are the advantages of the wall... And I tell you one more thing?? The company can even charge employees for the extra security the wall would bring in, and extra charge on the usage of dam water which would be used for maintenance of the wall. This would even add to the 'Earnings' column of balance sheet, so double benefit. Aren't we doing the same for the new Parking Lot?? Lets go, build the wall...
